The new M2 MacBook Pro will get Big Performance Upgrade

0

The new M2 MacBook Pro is coming with even better performance than we expected. And today we’ve got plenty of confirmations to share.

So, first up, we’ve got a tweet from LeaksApplePro that the new 14 and 16 inch M2 MacBook Pros are going to have a better speed, a better battery life, along with less heat. Of course, this was always to be expected, but he also confirms that there’s going to be no design changes.

The information on speed has now been backed up, with the M2 Max chip appearing on a Geekbench 5 with some very impressive scores. The M2 Max benchmark scores 2027 for single core, then 14888 for multicore, which is not only much better than the M1 score of 1755 for single, and 12334 for multi. But it’s also much better than the early M2 Max benchmarks that we’ve already seen.

We’ve also got news from Mark Gurman that the new M2 Max supports up to 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores, which is a big increase from the M1’s at 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. The new MacBook Pros are going to support up to 64GB of memory with up to 8  terabytes of SSD storage.

Many expected that the new M2 MacBook Pro to release this year, but that of course didn’t happen. But reliable analyst Ming Chi Kuo told us back in August that mass production was going to start in the last quarter of 2022, with the MacBooks to launch in the first half of 2023.

Mark Gurman also tells us that the new MacBook Pros are going to be launching alongside the new Mac OS Ventura 13.3 and iOS 16.3, and that’s going to be at the end of February or the start of March.

So essentially the MacBook Pros are going to look the same, but they’re coming up with a huge bump in power and efficiency. It’s probably not going to be worth upgrading from the M1s if you’re just using them for day to day tasks. But for people utilizing the chipset to its full potential, then it’s definitely going to be worthwhile, of course, as anything new comes in. I’ll be updating you guys straight away, but let me know your thoughts down in the comments below.
