An unverified Weibo post claims that a new smartphone, now codenamed “Redmi Note 12 Turbo,” will soon join the Redmi Note 12 family. The smartphone is scheduled to debut in China before making its way to other markets under a different name (perhaps Poco).
We don’t know much about the mysterious gadget just yet, but we do know that it will be the first in the Redmi Note 12 series to feature a fingerprint scanner embedded directly into the screen. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED, 120Hz, FHD+ display, similar to those found on many of its relatives. It’s also noteworthy that this is the first member of the family to use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 CPU, which the phone appears to be based on.
This latest leak includes information about the device’s cameras, which include a 50MP main shooter, 8MP ultrawide, and a mystery third camera. It’s possible that it’s a 2MP macro camera, like the one in the Redmi Note 12 Pro. The leak also suggests that the phone will have a larger battery than the 5,000 mAh unit found in most Redmi Note 12 models. Comes with a fast 67W charger, much like the Redmi Note 12 Pro.
For the time being, that is all the data we have, though we will continue to monitor developments about the Redmi Note 12 Turbo.
