Samsung’s Galaxy S23 lineup keeps getting more and more attractive. Leaks suggest the phones feature better cooling, and early benchmarks show a significant increase in graphical performance. The ability to record 8K video is no longer a gimmick, and the battery life is said to be on par with the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Although the Galaxy S22 Ultra is a fantastic phone overall, it reportedly has a shorter battery life than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Samsung hasn’t raised the battery capacity from 5,000mAh, however, the Galaxy S23 Ultra that was announced at Unpacked 2023 seems to have fixed this problem.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s battery life is comparable to the iPhone 14 Pro Max in real-world usage, according to @theramalmedia, who claims to have used the device for six days. And it appears that the phone from Samsung gets about the same amount of screen time as Apple’s most advanced flagship phone.
Even though it uses an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor to pump out more performance than the ordinary SoC, the Galaxy S23 Ultra may have managed better autonomy with the same battery capacity as the 2022 flagship through optimization and the chipset.
In the first YouTube battery tests, we can already see that the Galaxy S23 Ultra has taken a big leap in battery life.
It lasted longer than the Pixel 7 Pro, Galaxy S22 Ultra, OnePlus 11, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and was only 10 minutes behind the iPhone 14 Pro Max. At the same time, it warmed up less.
There is no longer a differentiation between Exynos and Qualcomm markets, as all Galaxy S23 devices run on the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. With larger batteries (by 200mAh) than the Galaxy S22 and S22+, respectively, this could indicate that the standard Galaxy S23 and Plus models may also achieve much greater battery life than their 2022 counterparts.
