Sony Xperia 1 V will get a new camera island

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of the month, Sony may announce the Xperia 1 V. While we wait to find out if this is true, we may take pleasure in the first image that has been allegedly leaked depicting the forthcoming flagship smartphone.

Sony Xperia 1 V will get a new camera island

ToF camera and RGB IR sensor are no longer present on this camera island in comparison to the Xperia 1 IV.

As a result, only three large sensors remain (they appear to be larger than on the 1 IV), with a periscope camera located in the lowest one. The LED flash, which was located outside the island and above it in last year’s model, will now be integrated within the island in the next iteration.

This Xperia 1 V handset that has been leaked online is the international variant, as seen by the presence of the NFC logo to the right of the camera island; had it been destined for the Japanese domestic market, we would have seen the Felica logo instead.

It comes as no surprise that the Xperia 1 V would employ Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, as stated by a Chinese leakster on Weibo. In addition to being the most compact Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphone, it will also be the thinnest. Sony will almost certainly include a cooling system, which we can only hope will compensate for the device’s tiny profile.

If the Xperia 1 V is actually going to be unveiled at MWC, then we should have all the details about it in the next several weeks. It’s likely that other leaks will appear in the interim.
